Dear %$firstname$%,

I recently had the wonderful honor of presenting an "inner beauty" seminar at Dress for Success ( Their mission is very straightforward: to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

I have to tell you that the women in their professional development program are amazing! We had a lively discussion of how to reflect the inner "you" through the wardrobe choices you make, and Wow! There was so much energy, commitment and joy in the room. It was my pleasure to be a part of their ongoing support program.

Here's a picture of the women of DFS success: Beverly Cohen, Darian, Annie McGonagle, me, Kim Todd (Exec. Director) and Nancy Schneider (co-founder).

The same week I joined forces with and presented an afternoon of tea and fashion. It was a winning combination with Jenny and EO providing a history and tasting of superb teas (they stock over 300 in their beautiful store) and I talked about "10 Steps to Looking Great with Style & Grace." The afternoon event was all very beautifully organized by the fabulous Pam McCormick.

We were super honored to have absolutely delicious vegan goodies (apricot bars and brownies…yum!) donated by -- another great resource to check out -- as well as who provided some yummy vegan snacks in everyone's goodie bag. Believe me, that is just the tip of the iceberg of all that went on in a short 2 hours. Who knows, maybe we'll do it again!

The big question this time of year is…how are you holding up during all the holiday responsibilities and festivities? Remember, it is super important to take good care of yourself even when you feel pulled in a million different directions. You definitely want to be able to enjoy the time as it races by.

That's exactly why I wrote this particular article this week, "How to Dress Cozy Without Feeling Sloppy." I don't know about you, but I need as much cozy as possible as the temperatures dip and the stress levels rise. You also want ‘cozy' that makes you smile. These 5 tips are designed to help you snuggle in and enjoy the holidays and the upcoming New Year.

Even though next Friday is the start of the Christmas weekend, I will still be holding the Fashion Friday Q&A on the 23rd. Feel free to send us questions in advance (questions [AT] if that inspires you, and I'll answer them at at 4 pm on Dec. 23.

Take good care and enjoy the beauty and joy of the season!

With beauty, style & grace,

I walked out of there with... the best jacket of my life!...

"Your writing is wonderful - so easy to read, so obviously knowledgeable, but more than that, you put your finger right on the issue, and you say it so appealingly, so naturally, so conversationally. It feels like you are writing to me as a good, wise, accepting friend.

Last week, I glanced at the heading of your article "5 Reasons to Wear a Jacket," before I left for a shopping trip today at my favorite store. I thought to myself, you know, I wonder what it would be like to have a fun jacket that I actually wore? I do know it adds a special something of looking pulled together ...but they have always felt too restrictive to me.

So, I went to my favorite store, Uli's, because she was having their 24th anniversary and celebrating it with a 24% off of everything you buy today (for customers only). I had been wanting to go for awhile, so that was enough for me to brave the cold weather and actually go.

I walked out of there with, yes, you guessed it, the best jacket of my life. I LOVE it. (And talk about instant manifestation - yay me!)

Now here's the fun part for you. This blew me away. And part of what blew me away was that I took it as a matter of course, meaning it felt normal!

Since you were completely and utterly instrumental in me even going to her store (after hearing about her at least a year or two earlier and never going), after doing your home study program, let alone knowing my style "words" and being open to actually enjoying myself and having a positive, successful experience, I wanted you to share in my enjoyment, too.

Thank you so much Ginger!!! You should see my closet. I LOVE everything I got! "

Before & After: Marianne's Image Makeover

Marianne was drowning in too much fabric and a color that dimmed her inner sparkle. No wardrobe stylist wants to see that happen! So, I suggested a more fitted suit, a hint of color and shine, and we straightened her hair to create another option for a professional look. It polished her image and the makeover, in general, brightened her spirit.

How to Dress Cozy Without Feeling Sloppy

As a girl I was mesmerized by the popular television show, "Gilligan's Island" – for obvious reasons…I loved watching Ginger -- "the movie star." Here she was deserted on an uninhabited island and yet she seemed to have an endless supply of stunning gowns, her hair was always perfectly coiffed, and her makeup was flawless. Her "lounging around the house…um, I mean island" clothes were not what most of us think of as comfy. She always looked glamorous. Silly, yes. Engaging, yes. Realistic, nope!

More recently, I have been watching reruns of the old "Dick Van Dyke Show." Oh, my goodness…what a different world it was then. Rob and Laura would have their next door neighbors over for dinner, and they'd all be decked out in cocktail dresses and the men in suits! I'm not sure any of them owned a pair of jeans (or dungarees as they were probably referred to then).

Times have certainly changed! I suspect that your "relax around the house" outfit doesn't resemble the movie star's clothes or even Laura Petrie's. I know mine don't.
