Non-Invasive Skin Treatments, Part 4: Microcurrent
Microcurrent is a low level electrical current skin treatment that is reported to give fabulous results (it was even featured on Oprah
recently).
Studies at the University of Washington indicate that it offers a:
- 48% increase in elastin
- 14% increase in collagen
- 37% increase in blood circulation
These are impressive results (remember, some of these results are delayed because an increase in collagen is not an immediate response).
Microcurrent has also been shown to fill crow’s feet, relax expression lines and raise eyebrows. Perhaps one of the best benefits is that it helps products penetrate up to 70% more effectively giving instantly firmer results to your skin (albeit not necessarily long lasting, but a wonderful benefit nonetheless).
As with most of these treatments, it is generally performed in a series — 7 to 10 (45 min. treatments), twice a week. And the cost ranges from $95 to $175 per treatment. Again, not an inexpensive undertaking. Some "maintenance" is required, so ask about that when looking into this service.
