Puffs, Bubbles & Lanterns:
How to Wear This Season's Sleeves

When Did Sleeves Get So Complicated?
Spring tends to be a season full of pretty, feminine styles, and this year is no exception.  It can also be a season of excess, and again this year is no exception.

A look that brings squeals of delight from some and rolls of the eyes from others is the return of the puff sleeve.  To make it sound new and different today, however, it is now referred to as a "bubble" sleeve.

Whether you love or hate the look, it is everywhere!  And, to make matters more interesting, the bubble isn't always at the shoulder but sometimes at the elbow, and if it is open ended it is called a "lantern" sleeve.  Yikes!  Didn't we used to have a simple choice between sleeveless, short and long sleeves?
Puff Sleeve Tee Nordstrom
Here are some of the options available this season:

Want to wear something very simple?  How about a puff sleeve tee.  Very feminine style with a v-neck.  A tad youthful, so be careful.  $58

Bubble Blouse Nordstrom

For those of you who want to be wildly trendy (and wildly expensive), here's an option at Nordstrom for $595.

Bubblel Sleeve Victoria's Secrets

How about something ultra feminine and pretty?  Try Victoria's Secret for $48.  (Note, this should be worn by only the extremely young).

Lantern Sleeve Trench Nordstrom

Lantern Sleeves are arguably the most wearable for anyone over 35.  This jacket is definitely wearable at any age -- A terrific (albeit very pricey) trench coat for $1,295.

Lantern Sleeve Fleece Jacket

Or, how about something more affordable for most but extremely trendy (note the peter pan collar)(only $74.50).

Lantern Sleeve Cache
Probably one of the most wearable (and affordable) lantern sleeve options is this colorful jacket from Cache ($158).

One of the nicest things about the warmer weather is that it is easier to find animal-friendly clothes.  Each of these options is made of cotton (some with spandex or viscose added).  So, bring on the warm weather--we're ready!
